Bio
Known for his unorthodox approach, Georgios Samaras is an unpredictable striker who is constantly improving for his club and country. Samaras moved to Holland at the age of 16, after signing for Heerenveen. He broke into their first team during the 2003/2004 season, scoring four goals in ten starts for the Dutch side. Despite being used sparingly in the 2004/2005 season, he managed to score 11 goals. This was enough to impress Manchester City, and the Greece international completed a 6 million pounds switch to England in 2006. He made his debut for the club as a 65th minute replacement for Andy Cole in a 3-0 home win over Newcastle United. Samaras joined Celtic in January 2008 after failing to make the grade in the Premier League with City. Here, he has struggled to win over his critics and had been in and out of the side. Eligible to play for Australia as a youngster, Samaras opted to pledge his services to Greece. He made his debut a week after his 21st birthday in 2006 against Belarus and now has over 30 appearances.
