Bio
A player who showed great promise at a young age, Culina boasts an excellent pedigree as the son of Branko Culina, a prominent coach in Australia of Croatian descent. Jason Culina began his professional career domestically at Sydney United under his father before he headed to the Netherlands for mixed results during a nine-year stint from 2000-09. The goal-scoring midfielder played for three top Dutch teams - Ajax, Twente and PSV, winning a Dutch title with PSV. Despite that success, Culina opted to return home and join expansion club Gold Coast United in 2009. Culina has been a fixture for the Socceroos, starting all four games in the 2006 World Cup and four games in the 2007 Asian Cup finals. One of his biggest moments came when he captained the Socceroos in a 1-0 win over Indonesia in a 2010 World Cup qualifier.
