Analysis: The Jaguars and Albert had been locked in a stalemate over how the sides would part ways. Albert left the team July. 31, telling coach Doug Marrone he planned to retire. The Jaguars responded by placing Albert on the exempt/left squad list, meaning he had five days to return or he would forfeit his current contract and be unable to play in the league in 2017. The 32-year-old Albert is now free to sign with any other NFL team.

The person spoke to The Associated Press on the condition of anonymity Monday night because neither side has publicly discussed details about Albert's potential return.
Analysis: The 32-year-old Albert surprised coach Doug Marrone last week by walking into his office and saying he planned to retire. Albert abruptly quit after three training camp practices in which he looked out of shape and past his prime. It was never clear why Albert chose to walk away after nine NFL seasons. It's equally unclear why Albert wants to return.

Analysis: The two-time Pro Bowl selection was acquired in a trade with the Miami Dolphins in March. He had been competing for a starting role with rookie Cam Robinson, a second-round draft pick who now gets the job by default. Albert skipped most of the team's offseason program because he wanted a new contract. He was scheduled to make $8.8 million in 2017.
June 12, 2017 4:45 PM PT5:45 PM MT6:45 PM CT7:45 PM ET23:45 GMT7:45 4:45 PM MST6:45 PM EST6:45 PM CT3:45 UAE (+1)19:45 ETNaN: - Albert arrived at the Jaguars' team facility on Monday, one day before the start of mandatory minicamp. Albert skipped the Jaguars' voluntary workouts reportedly because he was in search of a new contract. The 32-year-old, however, told coach Doug Marrone last week that he would attend the minicamp.
Analysis: Albert was acquired from the Dolphins in March in exchange for a 2018 seventh-round pick. The 6-foot-5, 315-pound Albert has two seasons remaining on the five-year, $47 million contract he signed with the Dolphins in 2014. Albert is due a base salary of $8.875 million in 2017 and $9.575 million in 2018, though neither is guaranteed. A two-time Pro Bowl selection, Albert started all 12 games he played last season and 35 games during his three years in Miami.

Analysis: NFL.com reported that the recently acquired offensive tackle is seeking a new contract. Albert, who's started 118 games over nine pro seasons, is slated to be Jacksonville's left tackle after being acquired from the Dolphins last month in exchange for a 2018 seventh-round pick.

Analysis: Albert will not be the lone big-name casualty as the Dolphins are expected to part ways with veteran defensive end Mario Williams and defensive tackle Earl Mitchell, the Miami Herald reported.
