Analysis: Weatherford punted in the Jets' 30-23 loss at New England on Sunday as an emergency replacement for Ryan Quigley, who was unavailable with an infection in his right shin. Weatherford averaged just 40.3 yards, with a net of 30.8, on four punts. He had not punted in a game since being released by the Giants last month. Weatherford, who played for the Jets from 2009-10, was in a commercial break Saturday on 98.7 ESPN New York when the team called and offered him a job.
Sep. 4, 2015 9:39 AM PT10:39 AM MT11:39 AM CT12:39 PM ET16:39 GMT12:39 AM 北京时间9:39 AM MST11:39 AM EST11:39 AM CT20:39 UAE12:39 ET15:39 - The Giants have released Weatherford and acquired Brad Wing from Pittsburgh. The moves came days after coach Tom Coughlin suggested neither Weatherford nor free agent Robert Malone would be his punter this season.
Analysis: Weatherford, a member of the Giants' Super Bowl-winning team in February 2012, was released hours after Thursday's preseason finale against New England. Weatherford was slated to make $3.075 million, while Wing, a former LSU teammate of Odell Beckham Jr., will get $510,000. Money wasn't the only issue. Coughlin reportedly wanted Weatherford's punts to land between the numbers and the sideline, and that wasn't happening often enough.

Analysis: Weatherford posted a picture of the mangled car on Instagram after the 3:30 a.m. crash saying it wrecked as he hit "a massive body of water" going about 65 mph to 70 mph. Weatherford called 911, and New Jersey state troopers helped him and drove him 45 miles home to Hoboken.
