SAN DIEGO (AP) San Diego State coach Steve Fisher says his two freshmen big men probably won't be ready for the season opener Nov. 14 due to injuries.
Fisher said Tuesday that 6-foot-7 forward Zylan Cheatham had surgery on a broken foot and might not be ready to play until around Jan. 1.
Fisher says the Aztecs are being cautious with Malik Pope, a 6-8 forward. He broke a leg during his junior season in high school and reinjured it a year ago. He hasn't played since.
