LONDON (AP) Liverpool fired manager Kenny Dalglish on Wednesday after a disappointing Premier League campaign that overshadowed the team's first trophy in six years.
The club legend's second spell in charge of the team lasted less than 500 days and saw the team finish eighth in the Premier League. That failed to impress the club's American owners, even though the team won the League Cup trophy in February and reached the FA Cup final this month.
"Results in the Premier League have been disappointing and we believe to build on the progress that has already been made, we need to make a change," Liverpool chairman Tom Werner said.
